Sorry, TV fans. You're going to have to wait a little longer to watch the 2023 Emmy Awards (and yes, we're having flashbacks from early COVID days). This time around, the delay has nothing to do with a global pandemic, but rather, it has to due with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have halted most major projects in Hollywood. Due to the strike, the 75th annual Primetime Emmys are now taking place on January 15, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
So, who’s nominated? Who will be hosting? And how can you watch the Emmys? Here’s everything you need to know about TV’s biggest night.

1. When Are the 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards?

The 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT (which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day).
The ceremony was originally supposed to take place on September 18 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, but it was delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The last time the Emmys were delayed was in 2001, in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.
2. How to Watch the Emmys?

The 2023 Emmys ceremony will be exclusively broadcast on Fox, so be sure to check your local listings when January rolls around. If you prefer to stream the awards show, you can tune in with a live subscription service, like Hulu + Live TV or Sling TV.
3. Who’s Hosting the Emmy Awards?

The host for the 2023 Emmy Awards has yet to be announced. Saturday Night Live veteran Kenan Thompson took over as host at the 2022 ceremony. Prior to that, it was Cedric the Entertainer in 2021 and Jimmy Kimmel in 2020.
4. Who’s Nominated for an Emmy Award?

The 2023 Emmy Award nominations were announced back in July by Community star Yvette Nicole Brown. The list featured several expected nominees, including Abbott Elementary, The Bear, The Last of Us, Succession, Ted Lasso and The White Lotus.
The most noteworthy category was Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, which is stacked with Hollywood stars: Christina Applegate (Dead to Me), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Natasha Lyonne (Poker Face) and Jenna Ortega (Wednesday). Yep, we weren’t kidding.
The list also included a few surprises, like James Marsden's nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Jury Duty. The show, which quickly developed a cult following, was also nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series.
5. Who Got Snubbed?

There are way more snubs than there should be. For starters, the über-popular Paramount series Yellowstone was totally shut out, except for one nom for Production Design. Despite five highly-rated seasons and a number of successful spinoffs, the Emmys totally neglected the Western drama, as well as its lead, Harrison Ford (who also gave a memorable performance in Shrinking this year).
Speaking of neglected stars, Selena Gomez was left off of the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series list, despite the fact that her show, Only Murders in the Building, has now been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series three times in a row (and both her fellow leads have been nominated in their respective category).
Others we were surprised to see left out included Jesse Eisenberg (Fleishman Is in Trouble), Emma D'Arcy (House of the Dragon), Matt Smith (House of the Dragon) and Dominic West (The Crown).
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's docuseries, Harry & Meghan, was completely snubbed by the Emmys, despite its high viewership numbers. Womp, womp.
