Washington football live updates from 2024 NFL Draft as Huskies get selected

The 2024 NFL Draft could prove to be the most rewarding for Washington football.

The draft is scheduled from Thursday to Saturday in downtown Detroit and could see the Huskies make up for having zero selections in the 2023 draft. In fact, since having eight players selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Huskies have seen just 10 players selected between 2020 and 2023.

However, the national runners-up sent the second-most players to the NFL Combine, with 13 — trailing only national champion Michigan (16).

Wide receiver Rome Odzune is likely to be the first Washington player to be taken off the board, as he's projected to go as high as No. 6 in recent mock drafts. The 6-foot-3 receiver caught 167 passes for 2,785 yards and 20 touchdowns over the last two seasons. Odunze could become the highest Huskies player taken behind Steve Emtman, who went No. 1 overall in 1992. Receiver John Ross went No. 9 in the 2017 draft.

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. also is seeking to become Washington's highest-drafted quarterback since Jake Locker in the 2011 draft, while offensive lineman Troy Fautanu could also be taken in the opening round.

Wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk, defensive end Bralen Trice and offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten are other players ranked in the top 100 by NFL Draft Buzz. Jalen McMillan (receiver), Dominique Hampton (safety), Edefuan Ulofoshio (linebacker), Zion Tupuola-Fetui (defensive end), Dillon Johnson (running back), and tight ends Devin Culp and Jake Westover are other prospects who could be drafted.
