Washburn Rural graduate named to U21 Team USA Volleyball roster

TOPEKA — The Topeka area will be represented in the NORCECA Women’s U21 Continental Championship as Brooklyn DeLeye, who graduated from Washburn Rural in 2023, made the roster for Team USA Volleyball. The decision was announced on Monday.

DeLeye has had a fantastic season on the court during her freshman year at Kentucky. She was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and an AVCA All-America Honorable mention.

The outside hitter is one of 12 players to earn a spot on the under-21 team. The NORCECA Women’s U21 Continental Championship will be played in Toronto, Canada.

Deleye and her teammates will face the Dominican Republic in the opening game on Tuesday.

The schedule will see Team USA face Suriname on Wednesday and Puerto Rico on Thursday. The quarterfinals, if necessary, are slated for Friday. The semifinals will be played on Saturday with the medal matches occurring Sunday.
