Warriors Reportedly Rejected Ben Simmons Trade Offer

The Golden State Warriors were one of the few teams rumored to be interested in acquiring Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons this offseason — and on Thursday, they reportedly had the chance to do so.

According to RealGM, the Warriors turned down an offer from the Sixers: James Wiseman, Andrew Wiggins, 2021 draft picks No. 7 /No. 14 and two future first-round picks.

This is the most recent in a line of “outrageous” trade offers proposed by Daryl Morey and the Philly front office, per Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.

Yesterday, the Sixers reportedly offered Simmons to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby and the No. 4 overall pick in tonight’s draft. They also reportedly asked San Antonio for four first-round draft picks, three pick swaps and a young player from the Spurs in exchange for the Philly point guard.

Both of these offers were of course denied.

Even with Simmons at the prime of his career, each of these offers would be huge asks. And the fact that he’s coming off a dreadful postseason performance that saw him average just 11.9 points per game certainly doesn’t help the Sixers’ case.

To Philadelphia’s credit though, they’ve stuck to their guns throughout this entire process. When the possibility of a Ben Simmons trade was first floated during meetings back in June, Morey and the Sixers front office made it clear they would only get rid of Simmons if it meant getting something significant in return.

That being said, the franchise will probably have to start getting more realistic with their offers soon if they want to make a deal work.
