The Price Is Right first aired 67 years ago, and the beloved game show is showing no signs of stopping. If you've never been in the audience before, now is the time to plan your trip. But first, you need to know how to get tickets to a recording in Los Angeles.

Because the prizes can be so big and the show is so iconic, many viewers might be wondering if you have to pay to be a contestant on the show. Good news: It's free! There is no cost to sit in the audience or be a contestant, but there are a few rules.

First, you must secure tickets through the On Camera Audiences website. Simply choose your date and time, and answer a few simple questions, like your name, birthdate, phone number, and email address. You'll receive an email and either be assigned a Priority Ticket, a Line Voucher, or a spot on the waitlist. A Priority Ticket means you have a spot, and a Line Voucher means you will join the general admission queue and seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. According to the website, if you have a Line Voucher and arrive on time, chances are good you'll get a seat.

There are a few rules you need to keep in mind: You must be 18 years or older to attend, and cell phones and smartwatches are not permitted. You must bring a photo ID. If you've been a contestant on the show within the past 10 years or have been on 4 or more other game shows within the past 10 years, you are ineligible. Candidates for public office cannot attend, and winners will have to fill out the required tax forms to claim their prizes. Plus, tapings can last five hours, so bring a snack!

Once you've secured a spot in the audience, how do you get Drew Carey to call you to come on down? It's not as random as it might seem on TV. From the moment you join the line to get in the studio, production staffers will be searching the crowd for contestants and asking interview questions. So show off your personality and enthusiasm, and you might get called up on stage! Out of the 300 audience members, nine are called to the stage, so you want to stand out in the crowd. Be sure to wear bright clothing with no corporate logos, and leave the sandals at home. Closed toed shoes are required.

Also, there is a Price Is Right Live tour that has dates across the country. Keep in mind that this show requires admission: Tickets start around $30, depending on the venue, and VIP packages can reach over $250. Audience members will be called at random to participate in games on the stage.

If you'd rather watch from the couch, check your local listings. The Price Is Right airs on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
