A witty bio and a killer opening line are sexy, but have you considered…registering to vote? Because according to two of the biggest dating apps in the world, that’s what singles are looking at these days—like, way more than that third pic of you as a bridesmaid at your cousin’s wedding. 👀

Yep, indicating that you’re registered to vote—both in general and midterm elections (November 8th, btw 😉)—on your dating app profiles is *the* key to getting more matches. According to data mined by OkCupid, 79 percent of Gen Z and 86 percent of Millennial singles on the app are registered to vote, and uh, Millennials? We’re the generation that’s most likely to say we’d never date someone who doesn’t vote.

We want to date people who are just as invested in the future of our country as we are. So much so, that people who said they vote in both midterm and local elections got 35 percent more matches and 26 percent more likes than those who only vote in general elections. They also had 52 (!!!) percent more conversations on OkCupid than people who said they just…don’t vote at all. (Ew, David.) And it’s not just OkCupid. 47 percent of Tinder users said that finding out the person they’re dating doesn’t vote is a capital-D dealbreaker, and 53 percent of young singles said regular voters are more attractive.

If you’re paying attention, that’s…a ton of people. More than half, to be exact. Sooo…what does this all mean for you? It’s not enough to show up to the polls and vote for president once every four years. Midterm elections are just as (if not more) important than general elections, and showing that you’re engaged and involved is sexy. People want to know they’re dating people with the same priorities as them! And what better way to filter out those who don’t take voting seriously than by displaying your priorities on your dating app profile?

And ~the apps~? They want you to. They’re handing you the tools on a digital silver platter. Bumble has a voter badge you can add to your profile if you want to make it clear you’re showing up to do your civic duty…and that you’re expecting your matches to do the same. And Tinder launched an entire Election Center feature in their Explore section, where users can be redirected to their state’s voter registration page, access a voting checklist (so you don’t miss your mail-in ballot deadline, ahem), add cute “I Voted” stickers to their profiles, and more.

So if you need any more motivation to show up and vote in the midterms (y’know, besides the fact that our reproductive rights are on the ballot now more than ever), let this be it: Voting isn’t just the responsible thing to do, but it’s also extremely sexy. Now hop to.
