Walmart Is Selling a Pineapple Plant That Will Bring the Tropics Home

Sure, pineapples usually grow in the tropics. But they can be fantastic indoor plants as well, even in cold climates. We’re about ready to add this adorable pineapple to our list of recommended houseplants!

Where Can I Buy a Pineapple Plant?

Walmart is selling this pineapple plant right now. It comes in a 5-inch pot for only $24.99 and they’ll ship it right to your doorstep, though shipping fees may vary.

This plant sprouts an actual pineapple, and according to the seller, you can absolutely snack on it! So say goodbye to grocery store pineapples this summer, and whip up your own super-fresh upside-down pineapple cake! Plus, seeing that pineapple fruit grow is sure to give off tropical vibes and brighten up the room.

How Do I Take Care of a Pineapple Plant?

You want to mimic the growing conditions of a Hawaiian island. The pineapple plants need about 12-14 hours of direct sunlight a day, so make sure to reserve a spot near a window. Keep your mini pineapple warm—they’re happy with a temperature somewhere between 68° and 86° F.

Typically, a pineapple plant needs minimal water as they’re drought-resistant. Water only if your soil is dry or your plant is outside in the heat, and make sure that the soil drains well and isn’t overly moist. For optimal drainage, use a clay pot with good-sized holes.

Ready to go on your tropical staycation? From the classic pina colada to salmon with mango-citrus salsa, these recipes will transport you to the beach!
