From Walmart to Marie Callender’s and restaurants, what’s open Christmas weekend in Fresno?
Most stores and restaurants will be closed over the Christmas holiday as workers spend time at home with their families.
But if you forgot that one important thing (milk, your wife’s present, etc.) or you’re not one who celebrates, here’s a look at who will and won’t be open this weekend in Fresno and Clovis.

Stores/malls
Costco closes at 5 p.m. Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day.
Fashion Fair mall closes at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day.
Save Mart closes at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day.
Sierra Vista Mall closes at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day.
Target closes at 8 p.m. Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day.
Vons closes at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve, and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Day.
Walmart closes at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day.
Restaurants
There’s too many restaurants to list every one open on Christmas Day. But here’s a sampling of places that are open.
If you’ve got a favorite not on the list, give it a call or check its social media accounts to see if it’s open.
Note that even though many Chinese and other restaurants have historically been open on Christmas Day, some are starting to close on the holiday.
And remember Christmas falls on a Sunday, so some restaurants will normally be closed on that day.
Black Bear Diner is open until 7 p.m. Christmas Eve and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Day.
Denny’s restaurants are open on Christmas Day. Hours vary, but most are open 24 hours.
Imperial Garden Restaurant near Blackstone and Herndon avenues is open serving Chinese food from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Christmas Day.
India’s Oven at 3035 W. Ashlan Ave. will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Christmas Day, though the Tower District location will be closed.
Marie Callender’s in Fresno is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Day. The Visalia location is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Red Lobster is open on Christmas Day. The Fresno restaurant is open from noon to 7 p.m. and Visalia’s is open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House is open Christmas Eve from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Make a reservation online online or by calling 559-490-0358 to be sure you get a table.
Starbucks (most locations, at least) are open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Christmas Day.
Texas de Brazil, the River Park restaurant where slow-roasted meats are cut at your table, is open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day starting at noon. Make a reservation online or call 559-899-1900.
