Some may argue that in this day and age, remakes and reboots of past movies and shows tend to go a bit overboard. And while we'll sometimes agree with that sentiment, there are a few that we're already itching for the newest season of, like The CW's Walker.
The American drama, which is a reimagining of the 1993 hit western series Walker, Texas Ranger (starring Chuck Norris), stars Supernatural alum Jared Padalecki and has made quite a splash in the fall TV lineup the past couple of years. It follows Cordell Walker, a Texas ranger who navigates life as a widower with his two children in Austin after returning home from being undercover for two years. But as a plethora of new shows hitting the screen get canceled after a few episodes or seasons, fans of the three-season running Austin-based thriller are left wondering — can they count on a fourth?

Is there a release date for Walker season 4?
It's time to mark your calendars, folks. Walker season 4 will air new episodes starting Wednesday, April 3 at 8 p.m. ET on the CW. The news was revealed by TVLine in mid-February, with the show's social team also dropping the announcement in a video on Instagram.
"The wait is over," read the caption. "He’s back on April 3."
What's more, folks were ecstatic to see their favorite show coming back for another season so soon after the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. "Excited!!! April 3rd can't come fast enough. Missed my favorite Texas Ranger 🤠❤️," one person wrote in the comments. "Calendar marked 🙌," another declared. "Finally!!!!!🔥🔥🔥 The withdrawal is extreme!" a different follower added.
But wait — there's more! On March 21, the CW dropped a first look at what's to come, thanks to a season 4 trailer on Instagram. Between dangerous scenarios, romantic tensions and family strife, folks will be in for quite a ride.
The news of a release date and trailer comes after Walker was renewed in May 2023, ahead of the season 3 finale. "I’m so excited and grateful to continue theWalker legacy for another season alongside our partners at CBS Studios and The CW," said Jared, who also serves as an executive producer, when the news was announced. "We can’t wait to make Season 4 bigger and better than ever and to lasso even more fans into the Walker family. Let's ride!"
Variety also reported that season 4 will have 13 episodes, a shorter season compared to the 18 in seasons 1 and 3 and the 20 in season 2. The new season of Walker was initially expected to be released sometime during the summer of 2024, so the impending spring release date is a pleasant surprise for fans.
What is season 4 of Walker about?
The season 3 finale left a lot up in the air when it came to the future of your favorite characters. Captain James and Kelly were remarried, Cordell's son Auggie revealed he wanted to join the Army, while his daughter announced she wanted to go to college. Cassie was looking at an opportunity with the FBI. There was a surprise kiss, a killer coming back from the past and an accidental shooting. We're sure the consequences and aftermath of the finale will be examined when the upcoming season kicks off.
