Wait, Why Is Kelly Ripa Hosting ‘Live’ Solo?

It’s almost been two full weeks since Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest stepped back into the Live with Kelly and Ryan studio. But today, the 49-year-old actress was hosting the show solo.

On Thursday, the producers of the morning show shared a video on Instagram, featuring the co-host walking onto the stage by herself. “Ryan is home with a sore throat,” the caption read. “We’re all being very cautious these days.” We love the safety precautions.

Hosting the show on her own is no problem for the mother of three. Not only has she been a part of the series for 20 years (yes, you read that correctly), but she’s also gone through three co-hosts including the late Regis Philbin, sports star Michael Strahan and now Seacrest. Not to mention, in between co-hosts, she handled the show on her own, while welcoming a handful of guest hosts.

Not surprisingly, Thursday's show went smoothly. Fellow TV personality, Bethany Frankel also made an appearance (at a safe social distance of course), so Ripa wasn’t totally alone.

ICYMI: Live returned from a five-month virtual hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic last Tuesday and, aside from the new social distancing regulations, picked up right where things left off. These days, Ripa and Seacrest sit six feet apart and are edited by producers to make it appear as though they’re sitting in close range. Hey, whatever works.

So, while we are missing Seacrest today, it seems like the show is in good hands. We hope you feel better, Ryan!
