Wait, Is Shiv Roy Wearing a SKIMS Bodysuit?

Shiv Roy's wardrobe on Succession always seems to be a conversation starter.

The clothes worn by the sole daughter in the Logan clan (played by actress Sarah Snook) have a history of kicking off Internet discourse, from her backless sweater to her high-waisted trousers. Still, in the premiere of the HBO hit's fourth and final season, I couldn't believe my eyes when I realized that Siobhan Roy appeared to be wearing a bodysuit from the brand by Kimberly Noel Kardashian.

Yes, Shiv seems to be wearing a piece from SKIMS, the billion-dollar shape- and loungewear company founded and operated by reality star and business mogul Kim Kardashian herself.

When we first see Shiv, she's meeting her brothers for a top-secret meeting about launching their own media company, The Hundred (which is intentionally meant to be as vague as the name). She's in a business casual ensemble: striped wide-leg trousers and a matching blazer with a cocoa brown bodysuit layered underneath. (Later in the episode, she ditches the blazer for a knit cardigan.)

It's hard to explain what makes SKIMS products so instantly recognizable—maybe it's the stretch each item is meant to have; or the stark, skin-tone-inspired colorways; or the silhouettes themselves, with their high necklines and body-skimming fits. But why would Shiv Roy—known for her top-notch turtlenecks and Jay Godfrey gowns—be wearing SKIMS?

I have a theory. In last night's episode, we discover that Shiv and her husband, Tom Wambsgans, are in the final stages of separating following his unforgivable betrayal in Season 3's finale. (It also seems like divorcing him would be a good business decision for her, since the marriage poses a potential obstacle for the Pierce deal.) It's revealed that Shiv has been spending time in hotels, rather than at her home with Tom, and hasn't had full access to her wardrobe. So maybe the SKIMS bodysuit was an impulse purchase on her part. (BAZAAR.com did reach out to SKIMS to confirm whether or not the bodysuit was indeed from the brand in which they responded it is not, but the show's costume designer could have purchased a very similar dupe. Other retail contenders could be Aritzia, Wolford, or Yitty).

Either way, it's not that hard to picture Shiv (or an assistant) taking a trip to the flagship Nordstrom on 57th Street and buying whatever's available, including a brown bodysuit from SKIMS. Shiv is famous for wearing neutrals in her day-to-day wardrobe, so maybe the brand's sea of tans and browns and blacks was personally appealing. The bodysuit could also be a nod to where Shiv is at emotionally—a bit detached and clearly exhausted. Perhaps she's aiming for no-fuss functionality. And for that, we don't blame her.
