Fans remember back in May 2023, the network decided to cancel the hit drama after six seasons. Amid an outcry from both viewers and star Shemar Moore on social media, the decision to end S.W.A.T. got reversed, with season 7 being billed as its last time on the air.

Well, in shocking news announced through a joint video clip between the show's official Instagram and Shemar's, fans got to see the actor reveal news to the cast and crew that no one saw coming. That's right: Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson and his crew will be on screen once again, as S.W.A.T. got renewed for season 8 and will air new episodes in the fall for the 2024-2025 TV season.

"When I first got this job, I said, this is a dream job," Shemar shared while speaking to those standing with him on the set of S.W.A.T. "Seven years later, still a dream job. It's hard as hell sometimes, but it's worth it... I want to save my body, so that I can climb on tankers and fly around in helicopters for 22 episodes! Season 8!"

"We got canceled last year. I ran my mouth on social media, some other important people got together and we got uncanceled in 72 hours because they showed us love and they wanted us to finish the right way," he added. "I said to you guys, 'Look, they're saying we're done. But let's work so hard, like we're not done.'... So feel really proud of yourselves, because we gave them something to think about and here we are. S.W.A.T. ain't over, baby!"
