Vote: Who are the Summit County High School Athletes of the Week for April 15-21?

It's time to take a look at the standout high school performers from Summit County for last week.

Your vote will determine who will be the Summit County High School Athlete of the Week for April 1-7. We will pick one girl and one boy. Each athlete's credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 5 p.m. Thursday. The winners will be announced Friday morning on BeaconJournal.com.

Here's a look at the girls nominees, in alphabetical order:

Rachel Baker, Manchester softball

Earned three pitching victories while doing plenty of damage at the plate last week. She was a 6-5 winner Saturday over Tallmadge, pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts and had a single and an RBI Friday in a 4-0 win over Tuslaw, and fanned 12 en route to a 7-1 win Monday over Tuslaw.

Adeline Herstich, Hoban softball

Had a home run, a double and five RBIs Thursday in an 18-6 win over Manchester, and had a single, a double, two RBIs and a run scored Tuesday in a 13-10 win over Ursuline.

Kaidyn Schrader, STVM softball

Blasted two home runs Saturday in a 23-5 loss to Louisville, and earned the victory in the circle Monday in a 10-8 win over Canton Central Catholic.

Natalie Susa, Walsh Jesuit softball

Started and won two games while allowing a combined five hits last week. She pitched a two-hit shutout with a career-high 19 strikeouts Monday in a 2-0 win over Green, and came back with a three-hitter with 15 strikeouts Friday in a 13-0 rout of Riverside.

Alexis Walker, Copley softball

Had three RBIs Saturday in a 7-2 win over Dalton, a home run Friday in a 10-5 win over Kent Roosevelt and four hits Monday in a 10-2 win over Highland.

Here's a look at the boys nominees, in alphabetical order:

John Harabedian, CVCA baseball

Went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored Friday in a 6-5 win over Canton McKinley, and had a single, a run and three RBIs while pitching a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts Tuesday in a 7-2 win over St. Vincent-St. Mary.

Liam O'Farrell, Green tennis

Battled his way to five victories without a loss at second singles while the Bulldogs were going 3-2 last week. He recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win Saturday against Canton McKinley; a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win Friday against CVCA; a 6-0, 6-0 win Thursday against Highland; a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win Tuesday against Walsh Jesuit; and a 7-5, 6-3 victory Monday against Lake.

Matthew Mansbery, Walsh Jesuit baseball

Capped a big week with two hits, three RBIs and a run scored Sunday in a 10-win over Berea-Midpark. Also had two hits, an RBI and a run scored Tuesday in a 10-0 win over Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin and a home run, a single and four RBIs Monday in an 8-1 win over ND-CL.

Nick Purchase, Cuyahoga Falls baseball

Earned the pitching win while striking out seven in five shutout innings and added a double Friday in a 1-0 win over Firestone, and had a double and scored two runs Monday in a 3-2 win over Kent Roosevelt.

Ryan Wiehe, CVCA baseball

Capped a big week with a triple and a save Friday in a 6-5 win over Canton McKinley. Also had two hits and an RBI Thursday in a 6-0 win over Fairless; a hit, a run scored and an RBI Tuesday in a 7-2 win over STVM; and went 3 for 5 with four RBIs Monday in a 13-3 win over Fairless.
