Vote for the SouthCoast High School Boys Athlete of the Week for April 29-May 5

The winner of last week’s Boys Athlete of the Week poll was Fairhaven’s Kole Pinto. He had more than 2,000 votes (59%) to receive the honor. Pinto won his first singles matches against Seekonk, Westport and Case.

Previous winners were Apponequet’s Jake Cusson and Wareham’s Ty-Rell Pires.

The winner of the Preseason Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year poll was Old Colony’s Stu Burnham. The winner of the Preseason Boys Tennis Player of the Year poll was Fairhaven’s Kole Pinto.

Each week during the regular season, we will highlight the top performances.

BOYS TRACK

Elijah Barlow, Apponequet

In a win over Somerset Berkley, Barlow won the long jump and discus.

Nate Furtado, Apponequet

Furtado came in first place in the mile and 2-mile against Somerset Berkley.

Tommy Smith, Apponequet

Smith won the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, triple jump and high jump against Somerset Berkley.

Wes Archelus, Old Rochester

Archelus won the 200, triple jump and 110 hurdles against West Bridgewater.

Cole Berriault, Wareham

Berriault won the 100 and 400 against Southeastern and Tri-Cou

Ty-Rell Pires, Wareham

Pires was first in the javelin and discus against Southeastern and Tri-County.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Jack Gwozdz, GNB Voc-Tech

Gwozdz had a combined 21 kills, 22 digs and 40 assists in a pair of games.

Colin Stuessi, GNB Voc-Tech

In two games, Stuessi had a combined 32 digs and 48 kills, including a career-high 36 kills against Quincy.

Carter Barbosa, New Bedford

Barbosa had a combined 80 assists in three games for the undefeated Whalers. He also had four blocks and eight digs against Durfee and eight service points against Xaverian.

Juan Grau Montano, New Bedford

In three games, Montano had a combined 28 kills.

BOYS LACROSSE

Jake Cusson, Apponequet

Cusson had a combined six goals and seven assists in two games.

Will Levrault, Apponequet

In a win over Old Rochester, Levrault had a team-high four goals to go along with one assist.

Kevin O’Connor, Apponequet

O’Connor had three goals, two assists and 14 faceoff wins against Dighton-Rehoboth.

Kenny Wisniewski, Apponequet

In a pair of games, Wisniewski had a combined six goals and eight assists.

Eli Ikkela, Bishop Stang

In three games, Ikkela had a combined 13 goals and seven assists.

Andrew Lally, Bishop Stang

Lally had a combined 10 goals and 10 assists in three games for Stang.

Jackson Hart, Dartmouth

In two games, Hart had a combined six goals.

Lennox Massucco, Dartmouth

Massucco had a team-high four goals in a win over Plymouth North.

Barrett Becotte, Fairhaven

Becotte scored a team-high five goals in a win over Dartmouth and added three goals against Bourne.

Justin Marques, Fairhaven

Marques had a combined four goals and five assists in a pair of games.

Nathan Pearson, GNB Voc-Tech

Pearson had a combined seven goals and two assists in three games.

AJ Pragana, GNB Voc-Tech

In two games, Pragana had a combined five goals, two assists and 10 ground balls.

Misael Dominguez, New Bedford

Dominguez had a career-high four goals in a win over GNB Voc-Tech.

Brandon Moreira, New Bedford

Moreira led the Whalers to their first win by scoring a career-high five goals against GNB Voc-Tech.

Stu Burnham, Old Colony

In three games, Burnham had a combined 10 goals and five assists to surpass 300 career points.

Brody Darling, Old Colony

In a pair of games against South Shore and Blue Hills, Darling had a combined seven goals.

Andrew Nee, Old Rochester

In two games, Nee had a combined four goals and two assists.

BOYS TENNIS

Nate Belmore, Apponequet

Belmore won all three of his second singles matches against Martha’s Vineyard, Dartmouth and Seekonk.

Will Horton, Apponequet

Horton won all three of his first singles matches against Martha’s Vineyard, Dartmouth and Seekonk.

Jacob Hadley, Old Rochester

Hadley won his first singles match against Bishop Stang.

Ajani Bunting and Brett Brophy, Wareham

The doubles duo won both of their matches against Diman and Dighton-Rehoboth.
