Eugene-area athletes brought their A game this week in softball, a walk-off home run in baseball, personal records set in girls golf and track and field and a shutout performance in boys tennis.

This week's Register-Guard Athlete of the Week nominees are:

  • Aaliyah Martinez, Marist softball

  • Jill Potter, Sheldon girls golf

  • Samara Baker, Triangle Lake girls track and field

  • Joey Garboden, Willamette baseball

  • EJ Roedl, Marist boys tennis

Mya McNamar, Junction City softball

Freshman Mya McNamar had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored in the Tigers' 11-10 win against Marist in Game 1 of a doubleheader.

Aaliyah Martinez, Marist softball

Senior Aaliyah Martinez had three hits, five RBIs and one run scored in the Spartans' 16-10 win against Junction City in Game 2 of a doubleheader.

Jill Potter, Sheldon girls golf

Sheldon senior Jill Potter won the Celtic Invitational by five strokes, setting a personal record 74. She marked her third victory of the season.

Samara Baker, Triangle Lake girls track and field

Triangle Lake sophomore Samara Baker won the girls 100-meter hurdles in a personal record time of 15.52 at the MVC Meet at Creswell High School.

Joey Garboden, Willamette baseball

Senior Joey Garboden hit the walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Wolverines a 6-4 win over South Eugene.

EJ Roedl, Marist boys tennis

Marist sophomore EJ Roedl defeated Cascade's Andrew Suelzle in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
