There are 15 players listed on the inaugural ballot of the 2023 Journal Star fan's choice preseason player of the year ballot. The list of players is comprised of the athletes listed from the Journal Star's players to watch list for the upcoming season.

Peoria Heights senior Emily Dana was voted the fans' choice for girls basketball player of the year. Head online and let us know your preseason pick for boys player of the year. Voting will end at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 at pjstar.com/sports and results will be announced Monday morning. The nominees are below.
