Vote for Louisville-area high school girls athlete of the week before polls close Thursday

This week's nominees for Courier Journal girls athlete of the week produced clutch performances during the KHSAA postseason.

Voting is underway for The Courier Journal's girls athlete of the week. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Friday.

Hadley Dierking, Sacred Heart, softball

Sophomore Hadley Dierking had five hits, including a triple, three RBIs and three stolen bases to help Sacred Heart win the 27th District Tournament with victories over Seneca and Atherton.

Hailey Kincaid, Manual, softball

Manual junior pitcher Hailey Kincaid (14) started on the mound for the Crimsons while hosting the Male Bulldogs in KHSAA girls softball action on Tuesday. Male prevailed in the matchup, cruising to a 10-2 victory. April 16, 2024

Crimsons junior Hailey Kincaid had two hits, including a home run, and five RBIs to help Manual win the 25th District Tournament with victories over Presentation and Portland Christian.

Edie Kretzer, Eastern, softball

Sophomore Edie Kretzer helped the Eagles win their first district title in 11 years. She had two hits, including a triple, and five RBIs in the 5-1 win over two-time defending state champion Ballard in the 28th District Tournament final.

Taylor Touche, Christian Academy, track and field

Junior Taylor Touche won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and led the 400 and 800 relays to help CAL win the girls Class 2A, Region Three Track and Field Championships.

Clara Warrick, Oldham County, track and field

Colonels sophomore Clara Warrick won the 100 and 200. She also anchored the 400 relay team to help Oldham County win the Class 3A, Region Four Track and Field Championships.
