Vote for Lebanon County's Student of the Week: 5 top students in the running

This is your chance to vote for the Lebanon Daily News Student of the Week!

Each week, Lebanon County school districts have the opportunity to nominate high school students whose hard work deserves recognition.

We provide brief bios of each nominated student's accomplishments, and our readers can vote on who they think should be recognized.

Submissions must come from school officials, so if you know a student whose good work deserves recognition, reach out to teachers or administrators and encourage them to nominate that student.

Vote for your choice in the poll below. Voting opens at 5 a.m. Monday, May 6 and closes at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.

This week's nominees

Kinsey Boyer is a senior at ELCO high school, academically ranked as one of the top students in her graduating class. She has completed nine Advanced Placement classes and several dual enrollment courses. She is involved in multiple student activities at ELCO, through which she demonstrates exemplary leadership abilities as Class President and other leadership roles. Kinsey has also earned the ROTC Commander's Scholarship to attend Penn State University to study aerospace engineering and has plans to commission as an officer in the United States Air Force.

Madelyn Schellhammer is a student at Northern Lebanon Secondary School who has been a huge asset to the NL Drama Club by being assistant stage manager since 9th grade. She also held a fundraiser for the NL Drama Club and participates in a daily Co-op with Northern Lebanon's elementary schools. She is a hard-working and altruistic person

Alec Tetzlaff is a senior at Annville-Cleona Secondary School who is a starter on the varsity football team and captain of the track and field team. Alec is also a longtime member of the concert, jazz and marching bands, playing bass guitar and trombone. He is a 3-year member of the Mini-THON committee and the student council. He has won multiple awards at regional model UN and has participated at AC Quiz Bowl at a national level. Outside of school, he has been clay-shooting for 7 years on the Palmyra Sportsmen's Association's team at state competitions. He is attending the University of Pittsburgh for psychology and pre-medicine in the fall.

Lina Zheng is a student at Lebanon High School who has recently completed her AP research on video game addiction and is ranked number one in her class.

Hunter Zimmerman is a sophomore at Palmyra Area High School who currently has his pilot's license. He is working towards getting his private pilot's license to eventually become a flight instructor for his senior year of high school. He has been flying since he was 10 years old and currently flies once a week at the Reigle Airport. In addition to being a good student academically, Hunter works two jobs and volunteers at his church on a regular basis.
