Vote for the Austin-area girls high school athlete of the week
It's time to make your choice for the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Girls Athlete of the Week for April 15-20. Llano softball player Skylar Brown was voted the top girls athlete of the week for April 8-13.
This week's list is made up of five softball players:
Anya German, Bowie softball
German doubles and hit a home run and drove in four runs to lead the Bulldogs past Lake Travis, knocking the Cavaliers out of first place in District 26-6A and into a second-place tie with Bowie. For the season, German has five home runs and 30 RBIs.
Addison Otto, Smithville softball
Otto pitched a complete game, with six strikeouts and two runs scored in a 3-2 win over Taylor on April 16, her first game after pitching a no-hitter the week before against Manor New Tech.
Rylee Slimp, Liberty Hill softball
Slimp went 4-for-4 in a 12-4 win over Hays on April 16, and was 2-for-4 with a home run in a 5-3 win over Glenn on April 19 to help the Panthers win the District 25-5A championship.
Brooke Wells, Vista Ridge softball
Wells pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in an 11-0 shutout win over Round Rock to claim second place in District 25-6A. She also homered and walked twice in the win.
Braelynn Williams, Pflugerville softball
Williams hit for the cycle — a single, double, triple and home run — and drove in five runs to lead the Panthers past Cedar Creek 18-8.
