Last week brought plenty of impressive performances across the Argus Leader coverage area.

Throughout the season, the Argus Leader will be picking finalists for its Athlete of the week. The winner will be chosen by you. Vote now in the poll below:

Norah Christensen, SS, Lincoln

Christensen helped lead the Patriots to a big win over Rapid City Stevens. The senior shortstop went 3-for-4 in the batter’s box in Lincoln’s 15-3 win over the Raiders that was ended after five innings because of the mercy rule. Christensen also drove in four runs.

Madelyn Ducheneaux, P/U, Harrisburg

Ducheneaux has played a pivotal role in each of the Tigers three wins. She had four hits in four at-bats and five RBIs in Harrisburg’s 18-3 win over O’Gorman on Tuesday. Duchenaux earned her first win on the mound against Tea Area in a 10-6 victory on Thursday and then hit a homerun against Yankton on Friday.

Desiree Hinsch, P/1B, Roosevelt

The Roosevelt freshman picked the perfect day to have a day. After the Rough Riders opened their season 0-2, they bounced back with a 8-7 win against O'Gorman, in large part thanks to Hinsch’s efforts. She hit two homeruns to keep her team afloat and helped lead them to a win.

Ashlen Johnson, Jefferson

Johnson had a complete game against Aberdeen Central on Tuesday, April 2. The senior compiled three hits, 4 RBIs, and crossed the plate three times herself. The Cavaliers won handedly, 21-0.

Katie Vander Leest, Sioux Falls Christian

Vander Leest helped the Chargers secure a team victory in the Scott Underwood Invite at South Dakota State with a historic performance. She ran legs on three championship relay teams and was part of the teams that set new meet records in the 4x200m and 4x400m. She also finished first in the 4x100 with a 50.15 time.
