It's time to take a look at the standout performers from Section V.

Your vote will determine who will be the Advantage Federal Credit Union's Boys Sports Athlete of the Week for Feb. 19-25. The players' credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Wednesday morning.

All athletes who play on Section V boys teams are eligible to be nominated.

Aiden Bryant

Midlakes sophomore, one of the top high school jumpers in the country this winter, won indoor track state triple and long jump titles. His triple jump of 49 feet and half-inch on Staten Island is fourth-best in the United States this season.

Cam Blankenberg

Wayne's basketball star scored12 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, earning Tournament MVP after guiding the Eagles to a win over East High in the Section V championship game.

Braedyn Chambry

Byron-Bergen senior, a basketball forward and center, scored 24 points in the Section V Class C2 championship game and was named most valuable player of the tournament. The Bees defeated Alexander to become sectional champions for the first time in team history.

Garrett Clar

The Victor basketball star was named Tournament MVP after guiding the Blue Devils to a second straight Section V Class AA title by defeating previously unbeaten Greece Athena in the championship game.

Jermelle Cotton

The UPrep basketball star earned Tournament MVP after winning the Section V Class AAA title with a win over Franklin. Cotton scored 24 points on five 3-pointers.

JJ Johnson

Lyons sophomore controlled the area near the baskets as he scored 26 points and blocked at least three shots during a 71-54 victory for the Lions over Pembroke in the Class C1 basketball tournament final. He was named the tournament's most valuable player.

Jameson Motyka

Motyka, a junior from Batavia High, scored three goals including the overtime winner to push Batavia Notre Dame United hockey to a 3-2 win over Section VI’s Kenmore East in the NYSPHSAA Division II regional on Saturday.

Peter Northrup

Penfield senior won the state indoor track shot put titles - Federation and public school - and came in second in the weight throw at the Ocean City Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.

Joseph Parkhurst

Attica's swim star made All-American consideration after placing third in the 50 free (20.91) and the 100 breast 56.68).

Jaden Sherwood

Batavia Notre Dame senior, a guard/forward on the basketball team, scored a game-high 26 points and was named tournament MVP after the team won the Section V Class C3 final. He scored 23 during the semifinal round.

Perrion Williams

A senior at World of Inquiry who sprints with the Franklin indoor track and field team, he won the public school 300-meter dash state title. He also placed second in the Federation standings, good for a silver medal.

Lou Zaari

McQuaid’s forward had the eventual game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Section IV’s Ithaca to send the Knights to the NYSPHSAA Division I semifinals.
