Volunteers needed for Piscataquog River Park cleanup

Apr. 25—The Friends of Piscataquog are looking for volunteers this weekend to help out with a clean-up event at Piscataquog River Park in Manchester.

In April 2023, the Friends of Piscataquog River Park had its first big volunteer clean-up event in Piscataquog River Park, with organizers reporting more than 3 tons of trash removed and roundleaf bittersweet cut from an acre of the park.

The event was such a great success, organizers are planning to do it again Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Friends of Piscataquog River Park, Manchester Parks and Recreation and the Manchester Conservation Commission are looking for volunteers to help pick up trash and remove invasive species, along with other tasks to improve the park.

Coffee and snacks will be provided in the morning, along with lunch after the work day. This is a free event and a small training will be provided at the beginning.

Participants are asked to leave animals at home, because volunteers will be using sharp tools. Organizers say work will be conducted off-trail and on uneven terrain.
