Appleton Area School District: Is looking for volunteers for tutoring programs, such as the United for Reading Success Program. Benefits of tutoring programs include improvement of student's self-esteem, confidence and attitude toward school, and companionship with a positive adult role model. Aurora at Home Hospice: Is seeking hospice volunteers to visit patients. It takes as little as one hour to visit and provide companionship to a hospice patient who may not be able to see family regularly. Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin: Is looking for Warehouse Food Sorters. Volunteers quality check, package, label, or sort food depending on what is needed. Shifts are weekdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. or 1 to 3:30 p.m. Volunteers should arrive 10 minutes early to allow for check-in/orientation. Fox Valley Memory Project: Seeks volunteers to drive participants to a Memory Café in the community, attend the café alongside the participant, and then drive them home. You can drive your own vehicle, or take training to drive one of Make the Ride Happen’s vehicles. Training includes dementia communication and support skills. Minimum age: 18. Girls on the Run of Northeast Wisconsin: Seeks coaches for the 2024 season at Westside Elementary in Kimberly. You don’t need to be a runner to volunteer, though you must complete a background check and training, and commit to the season’s 10-week practice schedule. Living Spirit Dementia Respite Center: Is looking for volunteers to participate in fellowship and activities with a group of 2 to 4 other volunteers and 10 to 12 people living with dementia. Miracle League of the Fox Valley, a program of Goodwill Industries: Seeks Buddies to support and encourage players on the field. Buddies, 12 and older, attend every game that their player participates in, fostering friendships and sharing the joy of baseball.
