'The Voice' Season 23 Recap: See All 12 Live Show Performances

BIAS, Kara Tenae, Gwen Stefani, Tanner Massey

Monday night was the Live Shows on The Voice with the Top 12 bringing their A-game in hopes of making it through because Tuesday night's results show will see the elimination of three artists who will not make the Top 9 and next week's semi-final performances.

The Top 12 consists of coach John Legend’s Azán, Lila Forde and Mac Royals; Reba McEntire’s Jacquie Roar, Jordan Rainer and Ruby Leigh; Gwen Stefani’s BIAS, Kara Tenae and Tanner Massey; and Niall Horan’s Huntley, Mara Justine, and Nini Iris.

Jacquie Roar

Team Reba's country rocker Jacquie Roar kicked off the night, putting her spin on Lainey Wilson’s “Wildflowers and Wild Horses.”

Niall said: “That’s what comfortable looks like. That’s the most comfortable I’ve seen you on that stage all season.”

Reba said: “Way to go. We talked before [the show] and I was only wanting you to have a great experience. You had fun up there. Thanks for that.”

Nini Iris

Singing second was Team Niall’s Nini Iris, who emigrated from the country of Georgia but now has her U.S. citizenship. She sang the power ballad “Lovesong” by The Cure.

John said: “You have been one of the best talents throughout. You never disappoint. You have star power on stage, and you did it again."

Niall said: “And the Grammy goes to…That was so spectacular. Your ability to flip a song and make it your own is unlike anything.”

Kara Tenae

Next was Team Gwen’s R&B singer Kara Tenae with her rendition of “Love” by Keyshia Cole.

John said: “If you don’t know R&B you might not know this is an R&R classic from the 2000s. The runs are classic, and Kara nailed it.”

Gwen said: “Just hearing John say that blows my mind. You are so unbelievably poised and confident. You are so pure. You’re beautiful.”

Tanner Massey

Team Gwen’s Oklahoma pop singer Tanner Massey went a little more edgy with the rock song “Thnks fr th Mmrs” [“Thanks for the Memories”] by Fall Out Boy.

Niall said: “You know I have always wanted you on my team.”

Gwen said: “I was honestly like this. [Shows crossed fingers]. I have tears in my eyes. It was hard to find a song and it was your favorite band. You did such a good job. I’m proud of you.”

Lila Forde

Team Legend’s classic singer/songwriter Lila Forde chose to perform the piano for her first live show with her version of “Closer to Fine” by the Indigo Girls.

Niall said: “I am your biggest fan without a shadow of a doubt. You always sing the words like they are you own. You have this insane ability.”

John said: “I feel like this is the first performance when you brought us into your world. It felt like we were at your concert. You are so incredible.”

Ruby Leigh

Team Reba’s 16-year-old yodeler Ruby Leigh tackled a Reba song with her performance of “You Lie.”

Niall said: "There hasn’t been a time where you performed on the show that I haven’t gotten goose bumps. That was special. You are insane."

Reba said: “You blew it out of the water. That was spectacular. The way you can hold a note is so powerful.”

Huntley

Team Niall’s Virgina Blues rocker Huntley raised the roof with his powerhouse version of “Got by With a Little Help From My Friends” by Joe Cocker.

John said: “Whenever I see you, I think you’re already a pro. You’re so great at what you do. You come out here and you just nail it.”

Niall said: “That was different league. Joe Cocker is known for his live performances. He would have been proud of that.”

Azán

Team Legend’s Super Save artist Azán was specially cleared to sing “Ex-Factor” by Lauryn Hill, which has never before been performed on The Voice.

Gwen said: "I am blown away right now. To do that song and take it outside the hip-hop world, I’m blown away.”

John said: “You are amazing. Your passion, your emotion, your golden voice, it has so much radiance and it all came through.”

Jordan Rainer

Team Reba’s Oklahoma country singer Jordan Rainer turned her unique styling on the heartbreak song “Stranger in My House” by Ronnie Milsap.

Niall said: “You have this gravitational pull as a performer. It was good to watch you riff with one of the world’s best guitar players.”

Reba said: “Great job. Great performance. You are a star. You command yourself on the stage and demand attention and you get it.”

Mara Justine

Team Niall’s soulful New Jersey entertainer Mara Justine gave an emotional rendition of “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims.

Niall said: “That was insane. By far the best you’ve done it all week. I am proud to watch your growth.”

Mac Royals

Team Legend’s R&B superstar Mac Royals got soulful with Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.”

John said: “I said it, he is an elite talent. You are watching somebody who is so special. You’ve done sexy R&B jams, but this let people see another side of you, an emotional side.”

BIAS

Team Gwen’s country/soul artist BIAS closed out the night with the Johnny Cash classic “God’s Gonna Cut You Down.”

Reba said: “That’s the reason I wanted you on my team. By gosh, you’re good.”

Gwen said: “Honestly, it’s like a dream that you’re on my team and we have this connection. I am so excited right now. You just keep being you. You’re the purest person. Just keep going.”

The Voice returns Tuesday night at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC when the Top 12 become the Top 9.
