This Viral Video Shares a Vicks VapoShower Hack That’s Great for Sick Days

The first signs of spring are finally here. The weather is getting warmer, flowers are starting to grow and, of course, allergies are in full bloom. Here’s an easy DIY trick to get some sinus relief for you and your family.

How to Make Vicks VapoShower Tablets

You’ve probably seen Vicks VapoShower tablets at the store. If you haven’t tried them before, they provide much-needed relief for people with stuffy noses and allergies…while you shower. Thanks to TikTok user @howdoesshe, we recently learned that you can make your own version at home using a bottle of Vicks VapoRub. Here’s what to do!

Add 4 tablespoons of Vicks VapoRub to 2 cups of very hot water. Give it a good stir to make sure the Vicks is melted. Pour the mixture into an empty ice cube tray and freeze.

When you need a little sinus relief, pop a few out and place them on the floor of your shower. The power of Vicks is activated by the shower water and temperatures to release the soothing vapor.

The steam of the shower and the menthol smell will help when you or the kiddos are congested.

Remedies for Stuffy Noses—and More

Looking for other ways to stop the sniffles? Start with foods that can help you breathe easier again. When suffering from nasal stuffiness, keeping your head elevated and your nasal passages moist will offer some relief. Breathing in the steam from a long, hot shower—with or without the Vicks—will help. So will a humidifier in the room where you’ll spend the most time.

And don’t forget to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. If you’re still struggling after seven days, you may have a sinus infection that only antibiotics can help with. Visit your doctor for a checkup!
