'The View's Sunny Hostin, 55, Directly Addresses Claims She Dresses 'Too Young'

The View co-host Sunny Hostin recently addressed criticism that she dresses "too young"—and her response is something everyone should hear.

On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the attorney and journalist reacted to celebrities like Selena Gomez and Nicole Kidman expressing self-love and body positivity despite age or changes to their appearance through the years.

“I’m 55. I get criticized often on these stupid social media things about, ‘That’s too young for you.’ Well guess what? I don’t care!” Hostin said during Tuesday's episode of The View. "I like to wear what I want to wear."

She continued, sharing common criticism she reads about her looks: “My earrings are too young for me, my outfits are too young for me, my hair is too young for me, my makeup is too young for me. Guess what? Again, I don't care."

After Hostin shared that she feels "better than I've ever felt in my entire life," co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin declared, "And you look amazing."

Although Hostin didn't offer a specific example of online hate, an Instagram post of hers from September 2023 elicited several negative comments about her outfit. A photo showed her rocking a pair of shorts, prompting some to share their unsolicited critiques.

One Instagram user wrote, "Please stick to your long dresses," while someone else declared, "Waaaaaay to short."

Yet another person commented, "No, no Sunny. They fit and all that's fine but not a good look for you. Too much/ too little for your age. 🤔🤔"

It's worth noting not everyone had something cynical to say. One Instagram user exclaimed, "Sunny!! Rock them shorts gurl!! You got great legs‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥," and another commented, "Look at your LEGS!!!! 🔥🔥🔥"

Meanwhile, another hype person wrote, "Yea girl you looking like a teenager 🔥🔥🔥the outfit is on🔥🔥😍."
