Deep-Fried Bling

Nicki Minaj loves to pile on the wacky accessories -- and her taste went from fashionable to fried when she rocked a hot-pink chicken wing necklace at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Sept. 24. The rapper's fatty food charm came courtesy of Onch Movement -- a site full of tasty accessories. But that wasn't her first foray into the yummy style: She wore an ice-cream cone necklace from the same designer to the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards a few weeks earlier.

Where's the Beef?

Lady Gaga created quite a buzz at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards when she appeared to have raided a butcher shop before walking the red carpet. Her now-infamous meat dress was designed by Franc Fernandez and came with matching accessories -- including a bag that she made Cher hold while accepting an award! When asked by Ellen DeGeneres about the meaning behind the dress, Gaga replied: "If we don't stand up for what we believe in and if we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our own bones. And, I am not a piece of meat."

Name That Tuna

"This is an homage to Lady Gaga," explained Kate Walsh during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in September 2010. "It's a sushi and sashimi dress." But the Private Practice star isn't the only celeb to have gone fishing for fashion. In May 2009, Katy Perry (right) sported a similar look at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan, performing in an embroidered leotard inspired by a Bento box. Pass the soy sauce!

Lego My Dress!

When dressing for the Kids' Choice Awards, it's best not to take fashion too seriously. That's why we loved the playful Lego dress that Fergie rocked at the show on April 2. "It fit the occasion," said designer Michael Schmidt, who created the dress with the help of stylist Bea Akerlund. "It was built on a corset to give it structure, but all of the external stuff was made of Legos."

DIY Project

Ke$ha may think wearing a dress made out of a trash bag looks cool, but the result is a little ... trashy. "I got the garbage bags from Home Depot and I kind of just put it together," she said after arriving on the red carpet at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. We have a suspicion that the singer may have had a little help creating the garment -- but we have to give her props for her hands-on approach!

Veggin' Out

In July 2009, Playboy Playmate of the Year (and Brody Jenner's ex-girlfriend) Jayde Nicole handed out veggie hot dogs on Capitol Hill -- while wearing a lettuce bikini. Better known as "Lettuce Ladies," Nicole and other PETA campaigners dressed up in outfits made of leafy greens to help spread the word about vegetarianism and veganism. Talk about salad dressing!

Lighten Up

These ladies know how to light up a room! Katy Perry first rocked the illuminating style at the 2010 Met Institute Costume Gala in her colorful Cute Circuit dress. And a week later her good pal Rihanna followed suit, glowing on stage at London's O2 Arena in a black gown with sporadic rows of tiny red lights. We think this trend seems like a bright idea, but we have one question: Are batteries included?

Don't Leave Home Without It

Before there was Lady Gaga, there was Lizzy Gardiner! The famed costume designer took fashion to a whole new level at the 1995 Academy Awards with her self-created look. Made entirely of gold American Express credit cards, the gown was originally conceived for The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the film which earned her that year's Oscar for best costume designer. In 1999, the dress was auctioned off to benefit amfAR, the American Foundation for AIDS Research, and sold for $12,650!

Tressed to Impress

Forget cotton and silk! Part of what makes Lady Gaga's style unique is her wacky use of unusual fabrics -- but it doesn't stop at raw meat. At Billboard's 2009 Women in Music event, the star appeared in a sheer purple gown by London designer Holly Russell, complete with feathers and human hair fringe. Hmm, wonder if that dress came with its own stylist...

Swan Queen

It takes a gutsy woman to sport a bird on the red carpet. But quirky Icelandic singer and actress Bjork didn't mind ruffling a few feathers when she wore designer Marjan Pejoski's swan dress to the 2001 Academy Awards.
