Rachel Zoe on her favorite red carpet looks, and translating them to footwear
Rachel Zoe, fashion icon, designer, Editor in Chief of The Zoe Report, world-renowned stylist, and ShoeDazzle Chief Stylist, knows a thing or two about the red carpet. We got the chance to speak with Rachel about her favorite looks from the Oscars red carpet, and how you can translate those trends -- whether it's the bright, Hollywood red or the abundance of gorgeous embellishments -- to your wardrobe today.
Naturally, we immediately had to ask Rachel who her best dressed picks were, and we must say we agree 100%.
"Lupita Nyong'o in Calvin Klein, that was just life-changing for me. Francisco Costa, who did that dress, is a very dear friend and to be honest that dress had to be my number one, it was just spectacular." Rachel said, "Then Julianne Moore in Chanel, that was a major black and white moment which I never get tired of. I loved the Givenchy on Rosamund Pike, to. That was gorgeous."
"I think with those in mind," Rachel explained, "It just shows that classics really just transcend time in fashion." That's also why she loved Natalie Portman's Dior gown from the Vanity Fair Oscar Party so much, because it's effortlessly chic. (And as Rachel says, "Natalie can do no wrong." Amen!)
We went on to discuss the bright red Saint Laurent gown on Dakota Johnson, and Rachel explained that red will always be a classic that you can incorporate into your wardrobe. "You take away that gorgeous, rich kind of red and it can work in footwear, in trousers, in suits, in nail polish!"
When it comes to embellishments, Rachel says that's where we can have the most fun with shoes. "I think the great thing about shoes is that it's such a small platform -- as in, the space you're using is so small -- so you can really get away with a pop. So if it's sequins, grommets, studs, pearls, you can do it right along the toe and it's so chic."
