Life After 'The Bachelorette' with Emily Maynard
Emily stopped by our office to show us her new jewelry line with Towne and Reese and shared with us some of her favorite pieces. Each piece is named after one of Ricki's friends.
Emily was decked out head to toe in her own jewelry and each piece had a different story.
We love this necklace she's wearing made with Brass Ox and Amazonite.

Many know Emily Maynard as the star of ABC's hit reality TV show, 'The Bachelorette,' and though the cameras have since been turned off, the Charlotte native has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. We sat down with Emily in our offices to talk about her new jewelry line with Towne and Reese, her fashion website, her family, friends, and more. With her new jewelry line debuting July 10th, Emily showed us several of her favorite pieces from the collection. The jewelry pieces themselves are unique and one of a kind, inspired by her travels. They reflect Emily's personality: fun, confident, and beautiful.

StyleList (SL): When did you decide to start your own jewelry line with Towne and Reese?
Emily Maynard (EM): As soon as I got back from the Bachelorette and things started settling down, I thought "what do I want to do next?" At first I thought I wanted to open up a children's store in Charlotte, and then Jessica and Christi (from Towne and Reese) called me and asked if I wanted to start a jewelry line.

If I had to choose between shoes and jewelry, I'd go barefoot.

SL: What is the process like?
EM: I started by going online and going through my mom's jewelry box and my grandma's jewelry box and found pieces that I liked. I'd go in stores and look at the beautiful jewelry (that I couldn't necessarily afford) for inspiration. We went back and forth with a million sketches and I would say "I like this, and I don't like this." Then we sent the sketches off to get samples made. There are 63 pieces in the line now and we sampled 4x that before we landed on the final pieces.

SL: Are you a critical designer?
EM: I was the pickiest about the logo and packaging. I'm super selective about the jewelry, but we had so many great options to choose from -- the jewelry was the easiest part!

SL: What are some of your favorite pieces?
EM: I had two minutes to shop while we were filming the show in Croatia and I ran into this little antique store and found these pendants for my mom, mother-in-law, and friends. I was able to recreate that pendant, and it's very special.

SL: Why did you decide to start your own fashion website,
EM: I obviously am not an expert at anything, I don't claim to be. There are times where my makeup is a mess or my spray tan is way too dark, but I'm a girl's girl, and I'm trying everything like everyone else. I've posted about my faith, my life, fashion, beauty. It's a great place to share what I've like and what I've learned.

SL: What is your go-to summer outfit?
EM: I love wearing maxi dresses with flip flops or a t-shirt with cut-off jean shorts. My favorite shorts are Wild Fox shorts and I love LNA t-shirts.

SL: What is your ideal men's style? How do you really feel about V-neck t-shirts?
EM: I like a man to look like a man. I like guys that don't look like they try too hard. If I look like I could fit into their jeans and they could be a little tight... that's a red flag. I like a manly man!

SL: What do you think of new Bachelorette Desiree's style on the show?
EM: I think she's so cute. She's beautiful and so sweet. She can look good in anything! Silver is such a hard color to wear and she looked amazing in the first episode. We have very different styles, though. She's really sporty and I can't remember the last time I had a pair of tennis shoes on. I'd wear heels everywhere.

SL: What's next for Emily Maynard?
EM: I really don't know! I'm just happy being a mom to Ricki. Hopefully the jewelry line is successful and I can do more, but if the Bachelorette taught me anything, it's to just be grateful for every day. And that's what I'm doing!

Emily's eloquence and poise is evident from the minute you meet her. With her ambition and passion paving the way for a successful future in jewelry (and beyond), we can't wait to see what's next from America's favorite Bachelorette.
