Breaking: Eva Chen Named Editor-in-Chief at Lucky Magazine

Major editorial shakeups are happening at Lucky magazine: Editor in Chief Brandon Holley is out, and former Teen Vogue beauty director Eva Chen has been named as her replacement.

According to our source, the entire Lucky team just gathered for an emergency meeting at which Chen was named Lucky's new EIC.

We reported in April that Anna Wintour, in her new role as Conde Nast's artistic director, was bringing on Chen "to work on several projects with her" at the glossy. At the time, it was unclear what these projects were, though Wintour's reported end goal was saving the troubled Conde Nast title. Chen must have made quite the impression on Wintour, since the responsibility of saving Lucky now rests on her shoulders.

"From the streets of New York City to Shanghai and everywhere in between, Eva is the quintessential Lucky girl," Wintour said in a statement announcing Chen's appointment. "Eva is a woman of tremendous talent and experience. I have worked with her over the last few years, both during her time at Teen Vogue, and as she has been consulting with Lucky. Her lengthy experience in our industry gives her a solid foundation in both digital and e-commerce. Lucky's September issue will be her first opportunity to showcase her leadership ability, and I have every confidence she will meet the moment head-on."

Chen is already a beloved figure in the fashion community, regularly doling out advice to her many social media followers on topics from the best waterproof mascara to breaking into the fashion industry. No doubt her breadth of knowledge and sunny personality will be put to good use in helping turn Lucky around.

"I have long admired Lucky's unique point of view in the fashion industry," added Chen. "It's an exciting time for the brand as technology empowers and inspires the Lucky girl to embrace her own personal style."

We've not yet gotten any word on Holley's departure.
