Banana Republic gets a makeover with Marissa Webb as Creative Director

Banana Republic, everyone's favorite classic retailer, is set for a brand new look -- and in good hands, no less. It was announced yesterday that designer Marissa Webb will take the reins as Creative Director and Executive Vice President of Design, effective at the end of this month. She'll be responsible for guiding the brand's overall direction, as well as leading global product design from Women's, Men's, and Accessories.

If you recognize her name, that's because we're sure you've seen it before. Webb has her own line of cool, downtown-inspired separates, which she shows at NYFW and is sold at Intermix, which Gap Inc. owns along with Banana Republic. She's also got years of experience from brands like Polo, Club Monaco, and J.Crew, where she served as Head of Womenswear and Accessories Design.

Is this the beginning of a new, Jenna Lyons at J.Crew-esque era for Banana Republic? Only time will tell, but we're pretty certain Marissa will add a hip, urban sensibility and a fresh new feel to the brand.
