A new twist on classic: The best in December street style

"While many of us are stocked up on basics, the trick is putting them together without looking boring. The way I counter that problem? Try choosing classics with a twist." - Amanda of Advice from a Twenty Something

"Much like a great pair of shoes, a coat can make any outfit look much more pulled-together and sophisticated." - Taylor of Shut Up I Love That Shirt on You

"I have to say it doesn't get much more classic than a black midi skirt. I think it is one of those items that everyone needs to have in their closet." - Shannon of Upbeat Soles

"The key to a perfect ensemble, is eliminating the background noise, and channeling the voice of your inner-style." - Larissa May of Livin Like Larz

"There is nothing as iconic as a pair of bellbottoms, especially when paired with a simple sweater and blouse. Lucky for us, trends may come & go but the great ones will never go out style." - Allie of Allie Wears

"I paired this sleek vintage Chanel tuxedo blouse (circa 1980's) with distressed boyfriend jeans making it more current and tomboy chic." - Emilee of Emilee Anne

"Like the Dodge Charger, my style is classic and sleek yet evolving. I love styling timeless pieces because the possibilities are endless and mixing trends with classics are always a good idea." - Melissa of Melrod Style

"Usually I pair my classic black stiletto pumps with an evening or office look. This time I decided to give it a more street wear feel and styled them with casual, distressed boyfriend jeans and my favorite oversized turtleneck sweater." - Aimee of Swellmayde

"I have built my closet around a collection of versatile basics, but I don't always want to stick to the predictable combo. For holiday parties, I love the unexpected mix of a faux fur vest + sleek leggings + statement heels, all grounded by the classiest of classics, the white button down." - Jessica of Here & Now

"I took a timeless and classic piece from my wardrobe---the Moto Jacket---and gave it a modern twist." - Blake of Blake von D

"Pair a classic [coat] with some ripped black skinnies and a well-fitting white striped blouse, and it has just the right amount of edge to make you stand out on the street." - Nichole of A Type of Style

"This vintage coat and romper have 80s written all over it- but after every season when I purge my closet to make room for new pieces, I always hang on to a few classic styles- these two included. For me, there's something comforting about wearing a piece with a little history." - Brittany of Thrifts & Threads
