10 Things Celebrity Hair Stylist Mara Roszak totes everywhere
Emma Stone's hairstylist shares her must-haves
“You can kind of do anything with two bobby pins,” says the stylist. “It’s amazing what styles will hold when you crisscross two bobby pins (mostly half-up styles), like pulling the front sides -- either in two braids or twists -- to meet at the back of the head, or pinning just the front section back (in between the arches of the eyebrows).”
“I'm loving the Mansur Gavriel tote bags and backpacks. Simple, yet beautiful,” she says.
(We agree; plus, this tote is obviously big enough to carry other essentials like healthy snacks and Elnett hairspray.)
“I know, that’s so boring, but I’m sadly so attached,” jokes Mara. “I'm an extremely visual person, so photos are really important. I am constantly finding inspiration references, taking photos of my own and pinning. I also just love talking on the phone.”
“I want to be that person [who carries a datebook], but I’m just not,” she confesses. “I splurge and buy a Smythson every year to inspire an organized fresh start. I’ve even purchased lovely pens to match, and they’ve lasted about two weeks, tops, before they’re gone.”
(Luckily, she also carries a little notebook to handwrite notes.)
“Traveling can be stressful. I like to create a calm, relaxed experience for the person I'm styling and everyone involved. I try to bring my aromatherapy diffuser along with essential oils with me,” says Mara. “I recently found a wonderful website, Floracopeia.com, for all things aromatherapy-related.”
“I love drinks!” exclaims the celeb stylist. “If you get in my car, there are typically multiple empty bottles in there. To start my day off right, I have a coffee and a greens juice. On busy days when I'm going from one place to the next, I'll pick up a few juices from Beverly Hills Juice to have on the go. Not only do I have more energy, but I just feel better all around.”
“I always love a good classic pair of aviator frames, as well as a brown oval-shaped frame (I’m currently into the style Alivia by Oliver Peoples). In winter, I tend to go with black frames and leave the aviators at home.”
According to Mara’s Instagram feed, these pink sunnies are loaners: “What a cute pair of borrowed sunglasses can bring you to do!! … #itookaselfie!!”
"I’m obsessed with oils. I personally have frizzy, dry hair, so oils not only keep it healthy, but tame it and keep it frizz-free -- the L’Oréal Paris OleoTherapy Perfecting Oil Essence is one of my favorites. I typically apply it to ends of freshly washed, towel-dried hair.”
“Marc, my dog, is basically a pig,” she says. “He eats anything and everything he can get his paws on. I am a sucker for flat-faced animals -- I just find them so funny. Marc's favorite toy is a rubber ball.”
