Vibe: Essie’s richly hued winter collection appears to be an homage to celebs and royalty, as per the press release: “The modern woman is totally driven, desiring the best of everything. Why be the arm candy when she can be the main attraction?” Essie Weingarten herself said the collection is “One part Queen Elizabeth, two parts Duchess of Cambridge.” We’d love to see either of them in the fantastic wine glitter polish, which is the highlight of this collection.
Colors: (From L-R) Snap Happy, Where’s My Chauffeur, Leading Lady, Butler Please, Beyond Cozy, She’s Pampered
Vibe: This collection is chock full of “crystals” and “shimmer” shades–in other words–sparkle. (Plus Electra, a silvery holographic top coat.) For the holidays Zoya is also releasing a three piece set featuring a golden topcoat containing actual 18k gold flakes (which, despite the astronomical price of gold these days, is a bit of a nail polish mini-trend. OPI’s James Bond collection–next page–has a gold-infused polish, too.)
Vibe: This could be one of OPI’s coolest movie tie-ins ever. In honor of this month’s release of the newest 007 flick, Skyfall, this 12-piece collection is an homage to the films–each color is named after one of the movies.
Colors: (L-R, top to bottom) Golden Eye, The Spy Who Loved Me, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, You Only Live Twice, Skyfall, Moonraker, Tomorrow Never Dies, The Living Daylights, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Live and Let Die, The World Is Not Enough
There’s also an 18K gold-flecked top coat that comes in a shiny gold bottle, called The Man With the Golden Gun.
Vibe: Part of MAC’s absolutely crave-worthy holiday makeup collection (wait’ll you see the packaging–more on that later), these four colors hit it all–a neutral, a pastel, a shimmer, and a full-on glitter. It’s like the four food groups of nail lacquer.
Colors: Endless Night, In the Limelight, Girl Power, Everything that Glitters
Vibe: China Glaze never skimps on offering lots of colors in its collections, and this holiday is no exception. From the ubiquitous metallics and glitters to a variety of different reds, this collection is definitely festive.
Colors: (L-R, top to bottom) Champagne Kisses, Angel Wings, Winter Holly, Blue Bells Ring, Glistening Snow, Pizzazz, With Love, Red Satin, Pure Joy, Cranberry Splash, Merry Berry, Glitter All the Way
Deborah Lippmann Rock This Town Set, Christmas in the City Trio
The Vibe: Metallic and very holiday-esque. The Rock this Town set is available everywhere, and DL even did exclusive trios for all the department stores like Nordstrom, Barneys, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale’s. We love the Nordstrom one specifically because it is SO Christmas-y–the red and green glitter is the best.
Colors: Moon Dance, Chain Reaction, Phoenix Rising; Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, Let It Snow!, Run Run Rudolph
