You Could Be Fined $1,000 For Fishing In The Wrong Spot

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is now patrolling along the American River to monitor illegal fisherman. Starting last weekend, parts of the Russian River and the American River between Nimbus Dam and Ancil Hoffman Park are closed for anglers. These popular fishing spots are scheduled to reopen after April 30. “It’s a misdemeanor violation,” Lt. Jeff Longwell said. “They’ll get fines of potentially up to $1,000 plus court assessments.”
