(REUTERS) - Stocks were flat on Tuesday as investors looked for new reasons in economic data or earnings to extend a rally that pushed major averages near five-year highs. The S&P/Case Shiller composite index showed single-family home prices rose in November, building on a string of gains that point to a housing market that is on the mend.
