Dodgeball is a pretty intense sport all on its own, but imagine going about the entire game on a huge court-sized trampoline. Ultimate dodgeball is played at Sky Zone, on their wall-to-wall trampoline court where flips are encouraged. The game is played 5 on 5 with 2 referees and a scorekeeper. There are plenty of intricate rules involved in the game, including the simultaneous rebound rule, which states, “If two players hit each simultaneously or near-simultaneously, and both balls rebound and pop up into the air and are both in the air at the same time, if one player successfully catches the ball first, the other player is out and the catching player is safe, regardless if the second player catches the other ball or not (that player is out at the moment of first player catches the first ball and therefore any plans they make after that point do not count). This applies at any point in a match including sudden death.” The ultimate dodgeball championship is an annual tournament with a men’s and women’s division. It hosts 32 of the best teams in the world with the winner getting a grand prize of $50,000. So, if you enjoy dodgeball and want to step it up a notch, consider trying out this insane sport.
