A game of tug-of-war at at a local high school turned tragic when two students severed their fingers. It was all part of the spirit week festivities at South El Monte High School. The contest, which pitted the school’s juniors against the seniors, was held at lunchtime on Monday. But something went terribly wrong and the rope snapped. At the end of it, a boy and a girl each had at least one finger severed.
