“Storm Chasers” star Joel Taylor is dead at 38 from a suspected overdose. According to TMZ, the incident occurred while on a cruise ship. His co-star Reed Timmer broke the news on Twitter saying, “RIP my best friend and storm chasing partner, Joel Taylor. I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend. We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase. I’ll miss you forever, Joel. We lost a legend.” Taylor studied meteorology at the University of Oklahoma. He also worked on the 2003 documentary “Tornado Glory.” “I love chasing storms. There’s nothing like getting with a quarter mile of a tornado.” Taylor stated in an interview, prior to starring in Discovery’s hit show in 2007. An autopsy will eventually determine Taylor’s real cause of death. He will be missed by family and friends, as well as plenty of fans.
