Science Says Vampires Are Real

Scientists believe those accused of being vampires actually suffered from a rare disease called congenital erythropoietic porphyria, the disease is caused by a malfunction in the blood where oxygen has trouble getting to the cells. This can give the skin a pale or dead look, cause extreme sensitivity to light resulting in blistering, and even a receding gum line, giving the teeth a fang-like appearance. According to Scientific American, “It is possible to relieve the symptoms by drinking blood."
