Ten years ago Wednesday, President George W. Bush boarded the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln and declared that it was “Mission Accomplished” in Iraq. Of course, that is far from how history worked out. Indeed, the United States was on the verge of a drawn-out and costly war that divided the nation and shaped the political conversation for years to come.
