James Packer Says Being With Mariah Was a 'Mistake'

Nearly one year after splitting from Mariah Carey, Austrailian billionaire James Packer is telling the world how he really feels about their whirlwind romance. The pair met in 2014 and were engaged in January 2016. And while they never set a wedding date, nine months later the relationship was over. “I was at a low point in my personal life,” the 50-year-old told the Daily Mail of his state of mind when he met the pop diva. Negotiating family business with his estranged sister had taken a toll on Packer and he found Carey to be a breath of fresh air. "She was kind, exciting and fun. Mariah is a woman of substance. She is very bright," he continued before adding, "But it was a mistake for her and a mistake for me." While he's no longer in touch with Carey, Packer's biggest relationship regret doesn't involve the "We Belong Together" singer at all. "It is my biggest regret that I let my marriage to Erica fail. It is what it is and she is doing an incredible job with the kids and we are in a great place," he said. In 2013, Packer split from his second wife Erica Baxter, with who he shares three children. Since breaking up with Packer, Carey has started an on-again, off-again romance with sexy back-up dancer Bryan Tanaka. #Repost @bryantanaka (@get_repost) ・・・ We're literally in a wine cellar that has over 250,000 bottles of wine, worth over 24 million dollars! 👀 It's one of the biggest collections of wine in the world!
