Funerals in Pakistan as Attack Leaves at Least 35 Dead

A mass funeral for nine soldiers who were among at least 35 people killed near an army checkpoint in northwest Pakistan. A security official says 12 militants and 13 soldiers were killed in the clash. The Pakistan Taliban is claiming responsibility. They say the attack was in response to a U.S. drone strike in neighboring North Waziristan last month in which two commanders were killed. Officials said that two bodies at the scene had suicide bomb belts on them.
