Former Gov. Ryan Begins Transition Back to Free World

George Ryan has left the halfway house and returned to his Kankakee home, Wednesday morning. Former Governor Jim Thompson tells WGN-TV that Ryan is home surrounded by his family and very happy. Federal Bureau of Prisons says Ryan was released from the halfway house and has been put on home confinement. Prisoners are eligible for home confinement when they have six months or less than 10-percent of their sentence left.
