The first ever World Marathon Challenge ended in Sydney, Australia after a grueling series of seven marathons in seven days, across seven continents - one of the toughest footraces in the world. Twelve competitors - eleven men and one woman - completed 183 miles (294.5 km) on foot and traveled a total of 24,000 miles (38,624 km). Hong Kong resident and triathlete David Gething won the Inaugural World Marathon Challenge Champion title, finishing in 25 hours, 36 minutes and 3 seconds.
