Clayne Crawford Responds to His 'Lethal Weapon' Firing

Lethal Weapon may have been renewed for a third season, but one of the stars was not! The FOX hit show based on the 1987 movie starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover is cutting ties with Detective Martin Riggs, also known as Clayne Crawford. Damon Wayans will continue to play Roger Murtaugh, and now he will have a new partner played by American Pie's Seann William Scott. Clayne Crawford initially responded to the rumors of his bad behavior in a post on Instagram. He apologized for two separate incidents where he was "reprimanded" on set. The first was his response to working conditions and the second one was after an actor felt unsafe during an episode he was directing. On Sunday, Warners Bros released a statement that the show was renewed and "Warner Bros. Television has decided not to renew Clayne Crawford’s contract for Lethal Weapon." Since the news broke, Clayne took to his Instagram to thank his cast and crew." "To my cast and crew - CONGRATULATIONS on season 3! To the Fans - Thank you for the overwhelming support and love. Riggs was a dream role and the experience will live with me forever. My heart is full. Good Luck nxt season!!" The season 2 finale left Clayne Crawford's future unclear. His character had planned to move back to Texas and he was shot in the chest. We're going to assume that shot was fatal.
