'Black Panther' Cast Dressed Like African Royalty At Premiere

The "Black Panther" cast looked absolutely stunning during the movie’s premier event. “Black Panther” himself — Chadwick Boseman — showed up looking like a king on the “purple” carpet. His entrance included several fantastically-dressed armed guards. This was pretty appropriate, considering that the dress code for the event was “African Royalty.” Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Grurira, Angela Bassett, and the rest of the cast honored the dress code with beautiful colorful clothes. Janelle Monae also rocked the royal look with a crown and big puffy sleeves, fit for a queen. Also in attendance were “Atlanta’s” Donald Glover, Issa Rae from “Insecure,” Mike Colter from “Luke Cage” and David Oyelomo from “Selma.” “I was hoping for this,” “Black Panther,” costume designer Ruth E. Carter said on the purple carpet. “All of the award shows I was watching on TV, I was like, ‘Oh, you wait until ‘Black Panther’ red carpet rolls around. It’s a celebration.” There is obviously a lot of hype surrounding the afro-futuristic aesthetic of the “Black Panther” movie, which comes out on February 16. And if the event was any indication of what the movie is going to be like — it looks like it will be both beautiful and epic.
