And the Most Common Drunk Injuries Are...

And just to kill your buzz, here are some sobering facts about drunk injuries. Injury Claim Coach, a legal advice website, recently conducted a study of 1,003 Americans who offered up their stories of boozy bruises, cuts, broken bones, and fistfights. Let’s get to the stats! On average, each American throws back 484 alcoholic beverages a year. Injuries occurred after consuming 6.5 drinks for women and 8.5 drinks for men. Beer was the culprit behind a whopping 58 percent of alcohol-fueled injuries, and most injuries—53 percent—are simple bruises. Broken bones accounted for nearly a quarter of intoxicated incidents and, on that note, 19% of men broke bones while drunk, while 15 percent of women did. Don’t worry about making a fool of yourself in public, though: the majority of drunken injuries were sustained at a private residence. Men were most likely to be harmed while chugging beer at a house party, and women were most likely to be injured at their own homes while throwing back vodka. And last, 88 percent of participants in the study said their injuries could have been avoided if they’d just been sober. Got any battle scars from booze? Tell us your story in the comments!
