'Extinct' Giant Tortoise Found After 100 Years
A rare tortoise was just discovered in the Galapagos after being thought extinct for more than 100 years. The last time the Fernandina Island tortoise was seen was in 1906. A team of biologists were filming for Animal Planet's "Extinct or Alive" when the team discovered the tortoise, now named Fern, under a bush on an active volcano. Scientists hope Fern may be able to save her species by using sperm that she's stored for decades to lay eggs of her own.
