The claim: Video shows Aug. 8 tornado in Tennessee
An Aug. 8 Instagram post (direct link, archive link) shows a montage of tornado and storm footage.
"Tornado in Tennessee today. OMG," reads text superimposed over the footage.
The post was shared more than 100 times in a day.

The video is old and does not show an Aug. 8 tornado in Tennessee. There were no tornado reports in the state on that day, according to an area meteorologist.
No tornados reported on Aug. 8 in Tennessee
On Aug. 8, after the video was posted, Cory Mueller, a National Weather Service meteorologist, told USA TODAY that there had been no tornado reports thus far that day.
"Conditions aren't favorable for tornados, big tornados or severe weather," he said.
He noted that tornados were reported in North Carolina that day.
The video in the Instagram post is old − a version was uploaded to YouTube on July 12. The montage includes clips of a 2023 hail storm in Texas and a storm in Michigan in May.

USA TODAY reached out to the Instagram user who shared the post for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
